Exploring Teaching and Learning
This series of discussion papers has been produced by the Anglican Education Commission as a tool for assisting teaching staff in Anglican schools to engage in an intelligent and thoughtful way with the emerging components of the new Australian Curriculum. We are indebted to Ruby Holland for the thoroughness in which she has researched and written this paper and we look forward to receiving equally thoughtful and constructive feedback. We don’t pretend that this paper has addressed every issue but we are pleased to share it with you as a conversation starter and as a trigger for further reading and thinking.
In these papers Ruby acknowledges that in Anglican schools ‘education is seen as nothing less than the intellectual, spiritual and moral formation of students as created beings of a loving and holy God.’ The theme of formation features often as does the challenge for all of us who teach to see the rituals and routines of our subjects with the eyes of faith.
These discussion papers will introduce you to writers, researchers, questions and issues which you may never have considered. We trust that it is a stimulating experience for you and for the community of practice with which you are involved.
